Highway day.png

Highway (Day) is one of the first areas encountered in the game. Its common items are medical components, old clothing, and old weapons parts. Its end-of-area boss is the Infected Major.

The group finds an abandoned car. The trunk is intact and may contain something of use.

Abandoned car (b)
The group finds an abandoned car. The trunk seems untouched and may contain something of use. Trunks often contain rations, snacks or first aid supplies. This one is locked.

Abandoned delivery van
You discover an abandoned delivery van which has been left open. There are a few creates inside in which you might find materials or even tools.

Abandoned police car
An abandoned police car. The perfect place to look for weapons and gear. It could also prove to be dangerous.

Abandoned rest stop
The group discovers an abandoned rest stop. You carefully pick a path through the building while trying not to attract attention. With luck, you'll find something edible.

Airplane drop
You hear the roar of an airplane in the distance. You look up and see a military plane parachuting crates of supplies!

Ambulance
You discover an ambulance. You open the door and scan for medkits, bandages and other medical supplies.

Boy
You happen upon a ragged, hungry looking young boy. He pleads for your help.
  • Give the boy some food (2 rations) (success: ammunition ?)
  • Offer medical assistance (success: ammunition, failure: ambush) - Medical
  • Ignore the boy and move on

The boy frequently seems to give gold ammunition, making helping him will worth it. Sometimes however, you will get nothing.

Bus
You discover a bus with the doors unlocked. Busses are great for finding snacks, parts for clothing, weapon parts and sometimes objects of value left by the driver. Beware of scavengers.

You find a crate. An atrocious odor seems to be coming from inside of it.

You find a crate. It is locked. You hear the moan of undead nearby.

You find a crate. The lid seems to be connected to something inside by a wire of some sort.

Survivors
You see a group of survivors in the distance. They seem to be looking around with mistrust. You consider whether you should approach or avoid them, you hear a noise from the side. <next msg> "Psst hey, perfect timing. We were just checking out that group there and planning on helping ourselves to their stuff. But why dirty our hands when you'll do just as well?" <next msg> "Rob that group. Kill one of them to scare the rest. Let them run off and leave their packs behind. But make sure you only kill one of them." <next msg> "As compensation for your services we'll give you <item>".

Note that killing the whole group results in a fight with the punks. You don't seem to get the original success upon defeating them. Note also that sometimes the punks will try to kill you anyway, after you force the survivors to surrender

Military installation
Exploring the far areas has paid off. You find a guarded military installation. Such a place can be a great source of rare ammunition parts, quality ammunition, equipment upgrades and even high quality weapons.

Military truck
Trekking to the far areas of the highway has paid off. You find a locked military truck. These can be great for providing rare ammunition parts, quality ammunition, equipment materials and sometimes high quality weapons.

Police cruiser
The group discovers a police cruiser teetering dangerously on the edge of a bridge. It may contain valuable resources such as weapons parts, ammunition casings or even ammunition. Beware of scavengers.

School bus
You discover a school bus which has been left open. A bus could contain general supplies and sometimes objects of value left by the driver. Beware of scavengers.

Exploring the far areas has paid off. You find a currently unguarded border patrol post. Such a post can be a great resource for things like ammunition materials, high quality ammunition, upgrade materials and high quality clothing.
